We commissioned Hermione to create a Loom structure artwork at Ham Yard Hotel, London and also at The Whitby Hotel in Manhattan New York. These are both newbuild properties and required great visualisation and inspiration to achieve a superb size and balanced artwork to work within the space. Hermione is highly talented and extremely capable. Her work meant working from plans and the installation took place on a busy cold building site. She is professional, imaginative, reliable and very qualified to complete complex work in a tight time frame. We would recommend Hermione most highly. We look forward to working again together in future.

Hermione Skye founded Skye Studios to bring an artist's process to large-scale commercial installation, work that has to meet the standards of a working restaurant or hotel, without losing the sensitivity that makes it feel considered rather than manufactured.

Her approach is concept-led, but concept and material develop together. Each commission begins with an idea for the space, and equally, with the development of a new technique or material treatment that hasn't been tried before, so the final piece could only have been made for that context. It's a process that carries real risk: some of the most successful pieces have started without a clear idea of how they'd actually be built. That uncertainty is deliberate. It's what pushes the work somewhere unexpected.
Alongside this sits the practical discipline of commercial delivery, fire compliance, installation logistics, working to spec and to deadline within live hospitality environments. Hermione sees these as inseparable: the technical rigour is what earns the freedom to work intuitively.
